Preheat oven to 400°F. Butter shallow baking dish large enough to hold fish steaks snugly. Place fish in prepared baking dish; sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
In small bowl combine cream with lemon juice, cilantro and jalapeño. Salt and pepper to taste; spoon over fish.
Place dish on middle rack of oven; bake until fish flakes with fork, about 12 to 15 minutes.
*Use caution when handling hot peppers. Wear disposable gloves or wash hands thoroughly in hot, soapy water.
