Slow Cooker Holiday Beef Stew

Ingredients

8oz.  hot Italian sausage 
1lb.  beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch cubes 
114 1/2-oz.  can stewed tomatoes 
1tbsp.  Worcestershire sauce 
1tbsp.  tomato paste 
114 1/2-oz.  can lima beans, drained 
4carrots, sliced 
2medium potatoes, diced 
1medium onion, chopped 
1/25-oz.  pkg. pepperoni sticks, chopped 
1 1/2tsp.  ground red pepper or cayenne 
1tsp.  dried oregano 
1bag boil-in-bag rice or 2 cups cooked white rice 
1cup  frozen peas (optional) 
1cup  cashews (optional) 

Directions

In large skillet cook sausage and beef until brown; drain fat.
In 4-quart slow cooker stir together meat, undrained tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, lima beans, carrots, potatoes, onion, pepperoni, ground red pepper, oregano, 2 cups water and salt and pepper to taste.
Cover and cook on LOW 8 to 10 hours or on HIGH 4 to 5 hours. Cook rice according to package directions. Stir rice into stew during last 15 minutes of cooking. Add peas and cashews, if desired.
