Directions
Fry bacon in large skillet over medium-high heat 1 to 2 minutes per side or until crisp. Remove bacon; drain off all but 2 tablespoons bacon drippings. Add onion to skillet. Cook over medium-high heat 3 to 4 minutes or until tender. Season with salt and pepper. Remove onion and set aside. Pour off any remaining drippings.
Arrange cheese on 2 bread slices. Top each with half the onion. Add 2 strips bacon and cover with remaining 2 bread slices.
Melt butter in skillet. Add sandwiches. Cook over medium heat 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until bread is golden brown and cheese melts. Press sandwiches down with spatula while cooking. Cut each sandwich diagonally in half to serve.
