Baked Apple and Cheese Ring

Ingredients

2large sweet apples, such as Pink Lady or Fuji
1tbsp.  butter
1cup  shredded red cabbage
1/4tsp.  salt
1/4tsp.  pepper
1/8tsp.  ground nutmeg
1tbsp.  apple jelly
11 lb.  loaf  frozen bread dough, thawed according to package directions
2cups  shredded gouda cheese

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease baking sheet. Core apples and cut lengthwise in quarters. Cut quarters 1/8-inch thick widthwise. Melt butter in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add apple slices, cabbage, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently, or until cabbage is tender. Stir in apple jelly Set aside to cool.
Roll out dough to 10x15-inch rectangle on lightly floured surface. Spread apple mixture lengthwise down half the dough and sprinkle apple mixture with cheese. Gently pull plain half of dough over filling; press edges with moistened fingers to form a firm seal. Gently bend the loaf into a ring; pinch ends together with moistened fingers to seal.
Gently ease ring onto greased baking sheet. Make slashes every 1 1/2 inches in top of ring for steam to escape. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until bread is golden and cheese melts. Remove from oven. Cool 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
