Smothered Italian Chicken

Ingredients


126-oz.  jar spaghetti sauce 
1/2cup  Italian breadcrumbs 
1/4cup  shredded Parmesan cheese 
1tbsp.  chopped fresh basil 
1tbsp.  chopped fresh parsley 
1egg, beaten 
2tbsp.  milk 
6skinless, boneless chicken breast halves 
3tbsp.  vegetable oil 
2cups  shredded Mozzarella cheese 
 

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. In 3-quart rectangular baking dish spread about 1 cup of the spaghetti sauce. Set aside.
  2. In shallow dish combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, basil and parsley. In another shallow dish combine egg and milk. Dip chicken in egg mixture. Roll in breadcrumb mixture.
  3. In 12-inch skillet brown chicken on both sides in hot oil. Transfer chicken to baking dish. Pour remaining sauce over chicken. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  4. Bake, uncovered, about 30 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink.
