Beef Stew Classic

Ingredients


1/4cup  all-purpose flour 
1/2tsp.  salt 
1/4tsp.  pepper 
1/4tsp.  garlic powder 
2lb.  beef stew meat, trimmed if necessary 
1large onion, sliced 
1lb.  baby carrots 
1stalk celery, cut into 1-inch pieces 
1 1/2lb.  potatoes, peeled and cut into large chunks 
1(14.5-oz.)  can lower-sodium beef broth 
1tbsp.  Worcestershire sauce 
1tbsp.  cornstarch 
 

Directions

  1. Mix flour, salt, pepper and garlic powder in slow cooker. Add beef; stir to coat. Add onion, carrots, celery and potatoes, beef broth and Worcestershire sauce; stir.
  2. Cover; cook on low 5 1/2 to 7 1/2 hours.
  3. Mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons water. Stir into stew. Cover; cook 30 minutes more or until carrots are cooked and meat is tender.
